isthedeadcat | 04. On Johto

Good afternoon everyone!

It has been a while since I last made a transmission, but the raising of pokémon can be quite time consuming when you have five children to look after.

[Oh, and talking about said children, there they are in the background. The Skarmory seems to be bragging about something to the Dratini (who is wearing a pretty pink ribbon in her neck)...]

I have been here for almost seven weeks now, and I have talked to many who want to go back and others who do not, or are not certain.

[And uh. Now Dratini is slapping Skarmory. With her tail. And somehow the Skarmory with all his awesome metal plating is being owned by her.

Charmander is of course on the side. Laughing the flame of his tail off.]

It's nothing but mere curiosity, but do you want to stay or do you want to leave?

I suppose it's only correct for me to start by saying that I am planning on staying in Johto for as long as I am able to. I find this place fascinating, and I wish to see as much of it as possible.

I have been here for much less time... But there are several people I would like to get to meet more.

I think Johto's pretty good at bringing people together like that.

I believe that not having to compete against each other is a big part of why that happens.

Society can be terribly competitive, and that always creates conflict.

You don't think Johto is competitive?

It is, but it is not an obligation.

You can live perfectly well in Johto without needing to compete against others. You may do so if you so wish, but it is not an obligation.

I kinda see what you mean. And you get mutant monsters as pets.

It is quite a normal thing, too.

Normal by this world's standards.

Of course. And with all these trainers around, it's even more notorious.

I dunno why everyone on this world seems to put Pokemon on such a high pedestal. Everything they do revolves around these guys.

It is probably related to how easy it is to work with them... They are much smarter than the normal animals back at home, to begin with.

And they have weird powers.

And they can make people's lives easier by using those powers. It's very impressive.

And also weird.

Weird for us, but not for the people here. I'm sure that they would find many of our customs just as weird.

They'd probably think our animals were weird, too.

That is true... It would be mad having to adapt to animals who can't completely comprehend human language after being here.

Animals that climb trees and eat plants instead of breathe fire and shoot electricity.

Our animals do sound a little uninteresting after meeting the pokémon.

Not just a little. Very uninteresting.

Oh well... There is nothing that can be done about that, I suppose.

Heh-- I guess not. Would you take the Pokemon home with you if you could?

Oh I definitely would.

I used to live in an island away from most other places, so they would have plenty of space to play around too.

Me too. I dunno where I'd keep them since I live in the city, but I bet I could think of something!

I'm sure you could. The first days would be terrible, however.
